Cách Dùng Trạng Từ Tiếng Anh (Part 1)

Yêu Tiếng Anh - Trạng ngữ là từ không thể thiếu trong câu, vì nó sẽ làm cho câu văn của bạn mượt mà và sinh động hơn. Vì thế bạn cố gắng biết càng nhiều trạng từ càng tốt để bạn có thể dùng nó bất cứ lúc nào bạn muốn, trong văn nói lẫn văn viết. Thân!

Adverbs modify verbs. They tell you How something is done. It is placed after "to be" verbs, before main verbs, at the beginning or at the end of a sentence.

Trạng từ dùng để bổ nghĩa cho động từ. Nó cho biết một sự việc được tác động như thế nào. Nó thường đứng sau "to be", trước động từ thường, đầu câu, hoặc cuối câu)
Example:
  • How does he she sing? - She sings beautifully.
  • Cô ấy hát thế nào? Cô ấy hát hay lắm.
  • Finally, I have done homework assignments.
  • Cuối cùng, tôi cũng làm xong bài tập về nhà.
  • She is absolutely nice.
  • Cô ấy tốt bụng lắm.
  • He definitely knows how to solve those word problems by himself.
  • Chắc chắn nó tự biết làm mấy bài toán đố đó.
Rule: Adverbs are often formed by adding -ly to an adjective. (Bạn chỉ cần thêm "ly" sau tính từ sẽ được một trạng từ)

Example: beautiful - beautifully, careful - carefully

Be Careful! (Chú ý)
  • Some adjectives don't change in the adverb form. The most important of these are: fast - fast, hard - hard.
  • Có một số tính từ không chuyển thành trạng từ bằng cách thêm "ly" được mà bản thân nó vừa là trạng từ vừa là tính từ.
  • Good is probably the most important exception. The adverb form of 'good' is 'well'. Unfortunately, this is a common mistake that many Americans make!
  • "Good" có lẽ là trường hợp ngoại lệ đặc biệt nhất. Trạng từ của "Good" là "Well". Và đây cũng là một lỗi mà nhiều người Mỹ thường mắc phải.
NOT!!: He plays tennis good. (Câu này sai)
  • Adverbs can also modify an adjective. In this case, the adverb is placed before the adjective.
  • Trạng từ dùng để bổ nghĩa cho tính từ và nó thường đứng trước tính từ)
Example: She is extremely happy. They are absolutely sure. (Cô ấy cực kỳ hạnh phúc. Họ tuyệt đối chắc chắn)
Be Careful! (Chú ý)
  • Do not use 'very' with adjectives that express an increased quality of a basic adjective.
  • Không nên dùng "very" trước những cụm danh tính từ mà nó dùng để mạnh thêm cho những cụm danh tính từ đó.
NOT!!: She is a very beautiful woman. (Sai)
Rule: Adverbs of frequency (always, never, sometimes, often, etc.) usually come before the main verb.(Một số danh từ chỉ tần suất sau thường đứng trước động từ thường trong câu)

Example: He is often late for class. Do you always eat in a restaurant? They don't usually travel on Fridays.

Be Careful! (Chú ý)
  • Adverbs of frequency expressing infrequency are not usually used in the negative or question form.
  • Những trạng từ chỉ tần suất mà diễn tả tính không thường xuyên (hiếm khi) thì không bao giờ dùng trong câu phủ định và nghi vấn.
  • NOT!!: Does she rarely eat fish? They don't seldom go to the cinema.
  • Cả hai câu đều sai vì bản thân rarely và seldom đã mang tính gần như là phủ định rồi, do vậy không cần thêm "not" nữa.
  • Adverbs of frequency are often placed at the beginning of a sentence.
  • Trạng từ chỉ tần suất thường đặt ở đầu câu.
  • Example: Sometimes, he likes to go to museums.
  • Adverbs of frequency follow - come after - the verb 'to be'.
  • Trạng từ chỉ tần suất thường theo sau  động từ "to be."
  • Example: He is sometimes late for work.
